1. Eknath Solkar
Eknath Solkar was all time India’s best fielder ever and one of the most fearless fielders there wil lever be as he was always fielding close to the batsman, mostly at forward short leg. He stood closer to the pitch than most other short leg fielders and that too in an age when helmets and shin guards were not worn by fielders. That made it possible to take India to the victory only by his fielding skills.
Flashback - Renowned for his outstanding close catching, his stunning pouches helped India to victory against England at The Oval in 1971, the team’s first Test win in England.
2. Mohammed Kaif
Mohammed Kaif, the out of favour Indian batsman has not played for the Men in Blue for more than a decade now but one cannot deny that he was one of the finest fielders in the world during his playing days and probably the best fielder India had in the limited-overs format.
Flashback - Indian Cricket fans cannot forget his brilliant diving catch to dismiss Shoaib Malik in the first ODI of India’s Tour of Pakistan in 2004.
