Former Sri Lankan captain and star batsmen, Mahela Jayawardena is the highest run scorer in the t20I world cup. In his 31 innings's he blasted 1016 runs. He was there in the tournament from 2007 to 2014. His highest run in the tournament is 100. He had an average of 39.07 and a strike rate of 134.74. He blasted 6 fifties and a century for Sri Lanka in the scenario. Chris Gayle is the active participant in this record with 920 runs.

Virat Kohli was brilliant with his bat in the 2014 world t20I held at Bangladesh. Although Indian failed to win the tournament, he was once again named the best t20I player. In 6 matches he scored 319 runs with best being 77. He smashed 4 fifties and 24 fours in the tournament. 10 sixes was also there in his cart in the season. His average was 106.39  and had a strike rate of 129.14. He surpassed previous record of Dilshan's 317.

Brendon McCullum's 117 is the highest runs in the t20 world cup. In 2012 t20I world cup  he achieved this record from just  58 balls. The match was against Bangladesh at Pallekelle. The innings included 11 fours and 7 sixes. His strike rate was 212.07 in the match. His contribution helped the team to reach 191 runs. On chasing the target Bangladesh  added 132 runs to the score card, facing 59 runs loss. Apparently, McCullum was awarded with the Man of the Match award.

The Jamaican giant, Chris Gayle blasted 2 hundreds in the tournament.  He started the inaugural season with a ton against South Africa. His 117 was the highest in the tournament till McCullum's smash against Bangladesh. He just faced  57 balls in the match. The second century was in the 2016 world cup. His unbeaten 100 was against England from just 48 balls. Suresh Raina, Jayawardene, Alex Hales, Shehzad and Tamim Iqbal are the other players to hit a ton in the world t20I.

5. Most 50+ Score

Most 50+ Score

Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli jointly hold the record of most number of fifties in the world t20I. Both have blasted 9 fifty plus score in the tournament. Chris Gayle played 28 matches to achieve this record. Kohli whom played his first world t20I match in 2012 took 16 matches to hit 9 fifties. Gayle scored 2 hundreds whereas Kohli's best is 89*.

Virat Kohli is having an average of 86.33 in the world t20I's. In his 16 matches, he blasted 777 runs and had a strike rate of 133.04. 9 half centuries was part of the innings's. Along with this record he blasted 73 fours and 19 sixes. Australian batsmen, Michael Hussey is in the second position with 54.62 average.

Yuvraj's 36 runs in an over performance is the most expensive over in the t20 world cups. He smashed six sixes against England pacer Broad. In the same match Yuvraj made the fastest fifty of the tournament. His performance in the 2007 world cup was crucial in winning the title for India. He was also awarded with the Man of the Series.

Sri Lankan legends, Sangakkara and Jayawardedene holds the highest partnership record in world t20I. They build a huge partnership for Sri Lanka in the 2010 world cup at BridgeTown. In their match against West Indies, Sangakkara added 68 runs from 67 balls and Jayawardene missed his century by just 2 runs. The match was favored for Sri Lanka by 55 runs.

9. Most Ducks

Shahid Afridi and T Dilshan jointly holds a weird record in the t20I world cups, most number of ducks. Dilshan and Afridi failed in 5 matches out of 35 and 34 matches respectively. Shahid Afridi looks poor in the batting with an average of 18.82. Simmons, Jayasurya and Wright are having 4 ducks in the tournament.

10. Most Fours

Most Fours

Jayawardene blasted 111 fours in the world t20I tournament. He played 31 innings's to achieve this target. Along with 111 fours, he smashed 25 sixes in the tenure from 2007-2014.

11. Most Sixes

Most Sixes

Chris Gayle once again in the list. In the t20I world cup, he was brilliant in hitting the sixes. Out of 28 matches played, he smashed 60 biggies. 75 fours are also in his cart. He was one of the most aggressive player in the tournament with a strike rate of 146.73. India's Yuvraj Singh is in the 2nd place with 33 sixes.  

12. Most Sixes in an Innings

Most Sixes in an Innings

Chris Gayle blasted 11 sixes in an Innings against England in the 2016 t20I world cup. With the help of these biggies, he scored an unbeaten ton. The second place is also hold by the same player with 10 sixes against South Africa. Yuvraj Singh is in the 3rd place with 7 sixes against England.
