Both had an amazing career in the Indian cricket team. Dhoni made his ODI debut in the year 2004 against Bangladesh. He was selected as a wicket keeper and become a significant middle order batsmen. He scored 4,876 runs in Test cricket and 1,444 runs in T20I's. He was brilliant behind stumps and known for his keen observations while stumping. considering his entire career, he dismissed 776 players including 602 catches and 174 stumps.

Virat Kohli, alias "Indian Run Machine" is one of the most trusted Indian batsmen's. There was scenario's in which he was compared with the great Sachin Tendulkar. He made his ODI debut in the year 2008 against  Sri Lanka. After some initial struggles, his hard work and strong determination made him one of the powerful top order batsmen. In his ODI career he blasted 9588 runs from just 208 matches. He scored 5554 runs from 66 test matches. From 57 T20I's he blasted 1983 runs. Kohli is known as one of the greatest batsmen's of this decade.

Dhoni hasn't created any notable records from the batting side. As a middle order batsmen, he got only limited chances to show his full skills. But considering him as a captain and wicket keeper, there is no other players in Indian team who can replace him.  He is the first wicket keeper to make 100 stumping in the ODI's. He guided 72 T20I's for India and it is the highest by a wicket keeper captain. His 76 dismissals behind the stumps are highest in T20I's. He is the most consecutive T20I player with no ducks in his entire T20I career. These are the most notable achievement by him in the wicket keeping and captain role.

Kohli is having more records in the batting side compared to Dhoni's records. He is the fastest to reach 5000 runs in the world cricket and achieved this record in every 1000 runs till 9000.  In his entire career, he reached 15000 runs and it's also the fastest. He blasted 35 ODI centuries and it is also the quickest in International cricket.  As he is just 29 now, there are more records awaiting the mighty batsmen.

Considering captaincy, Dhoni will stand one step higher than Kohli. Know by the name " Captain Cool", he is one of the calmest captain in Indian cricket history. He made his captaincy debut in the 2007 ICC World T20I and he made the impossible with the Indian young squad.  With the achievement, he got  promotions to Test and ODI cricket. Team India witnessed a drastic change under his captaincy. Till that time India had a weakness in the fielding order and with Dhoni's advancement, Indian team improved their fielding level. Also, Dhoni taught, scoring isn't just smashing sixes and fours, it also depends on the running between the wickets,  Dhoni won all the major ICC tournaments and became the only captain to do so. In his captaincy career, he guided Indian team 488 times and were victorious in 264 matches.  Under his captaincy Indian team achieved No.1 position in all the 3 formats.

Virat Kohli, just used the platform set by MS Dhoni. He is in just a beginning stage and yet to achieve more. Unlike MS Dhoni, Kohli is using aggressive captaincy in the team. He taught the players to sledge(for playing purpose only) the opponents. He hasn't got any opportunity to guide major ICC tournaments yet. But with his limited chances, he had done some achievements.

His calmness has helped Indian team in many pressure situations, including the ICC World Cup 2011 final.  He was an example for a great leader, by sharing the wins and becoming the scapegoat in lossing matches. There are many stories outside the field that makes him one of the greatest human being. One of that are, he invited one of his servants whom served tea in his career beginning to the hotel along with his old friends for dinner without caring his position. He was always cared his friends and helped them in the crucial situations. Also, he is a part of many charity works.

Virat Kohli is a tough guy in the fields. There was many situations, in which he lost his patience and become aggressive with the opponents. But outside the field he is another human being whom have his own believes and morals. He is having a old age home and giving support for thousands of old people. MS Dhoni was born in a middle class family and he had a strong passion towards foot ball. But impressed by his ball keeping skills, his coach suggested him to take a career in cricket. After taking many risks in his life, he finally got an opportunity to play in blue jersey. Dhoni married Sakshi Singh in the year 2010. She was his school mate. Dhoni became a father in the year 2015 to a baby girl named Ziva.

Kohli also had a similar family background like Dhoni. His passion was to become a great batsmen for Indian team. He was highly talented and had an extra care on his fitness. He represented Delhi in many domestic matches. He got a surprise call to play ODI match against Sri Lanka in 2008 and rest was hisory. He started dating Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma in the year 2013 and married in the year 2017.
