Chennai Super Kings Team Review 2018

Chennai Is Back For Their Third Whistle

The most consistent team, Chennai Super Kings is back to the IPL after a two-year suspension. The two-time IPL champions, Chennai is one of the tournament favorites. The team record in their previous seasons was impressive. Along with two championships, they were the finalists of four IPL seasons and headed to the playoffs in the remaining two seasons. MS Dhoni led the team in all the seasons, which is one of the rarest thing seen in the IPL. Chennai was part of 5 Champions League tournaments, with a record of 2 tournament victories and 1 semifinal. This was the best performance by a team in the Champions League t20.  M.A Chidambaram Stadium is the home ground for CSK. The ground is referred to as the home of the 12th player, indicates the support from the fans.

Chennai, in their auction, made a decent bidding for the squad. Captain Cool MS Dhoni and aggressive batsmen Suresh Raina were retained prior to the auction. Later, with the acquisition of Murali Vijay, Du Plessis and Bravo selectors created a vintage Chennai team. Chennai's is having one of the finest batting order in the tournament. Du Plessis, Murali Vijay will be a good opening combination for the team. Highest run scorer of IPL, Suresh Raina was consistent, when he wears Chennai jersey. Dhoni's presence in the middle-order will increase team's Run Rate in the final overs, for sure. Ambati Rayudu was impressive in his previous collaboration with Mumbai. Watson and Dwayne Bravo can rise when the team is in trouble. Bravo's previous experience with the team will be an added advantage for the team. Dhruv Shorey is one of the youngster watch out for. He was consistent in the Ranji Trophy with his batting.

They have made some good bids on spinners. Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir was the best pick from the auction. Harbhajan Singh, although he is not played any international matches recently, made some good knocks in every season. Imran Tahir, the most underrated bowler will be an asset for the team, he is capable of reducing Run Rate at any time. Kedar Jadhav and  Ravindra Jadeja can make some good contributions for bowling as well batting. Chennai lacks pacers in their bowling order. Ngidi, Mark Wood, Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar don't have enough experience in the IPL. Mark Wood was impressive in this season with a decent bowling for their national team. Skipper MS Dhoni and Coach Stephen Fleming's chemistry in their previous seasons resulted in some fantastic results.

In all the previous season's, Chennai's performance was mostly defined by their batsmen's. Attacking openers, strike rotating top- order and explosive middle order was their winning secret. This year also, we can see similar team lineup. Suresh Raina and Du Plessis are one of the best fielders on the team. A perfect team play, along with new tactics from Captain Cool will decide Chennai's performance in the tournament. Chennai will play their first match of the 11th  season on 7th April against the defending champions Mumbai.
