FIFA WORLD CUP 2018 GROUP ANALYSIS- GROUP D
Group D looks balanced with 4 well performing teams. Argentina has been the best in the list. With their experience and talented players, Argentina looks like the group favorites. But it will not be a easier task as Argentina has to face Iceland, Croatia and Nigeria in their group outings. As both 4 teams have almost similar strength, predicting the best two will be a tough task.
The 2014 Runners up had to face some struggles in their World Cup entry. Poor defense will be a thing to worry for the Messi squad. But their attacking line up looks one of the best in the tournament with Messi, Dybala, Aguero, Higuain, Di Maria, Banega, Pastore in the team. Messi will be the key player in the tournament for Argentina. The 31 year old striker is yet to make a major win for Argentina. Talents of Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain will also be crucial in the tournament. Jorge Sampaoli, the third coach for the team this year, is yet to impress with his team. Last years loss against Nigerian team, whom placed on the same group will be another worry for their qualification. It is sure that Argentina must do their best to move forward from the group stage.
One of the dark horses in the group. The team is capable of disappointing any stronger side. Excellent performance in the EURO cup is the latest example. They succeeded the group stage by defeating the England team. Although known as one of the smallest country participating in World Cups, they have huge ware house of talents. Aron Gunnarsson, the current skipper will be a key player with his excellent support in goal scorings. Gylfi Sigurdsson can make wonders with his attacking performances. If they done their best Iceland can make a dream run in the tournament.
The FIFA No.17 team, Croatia are aiming for a golden run after their 3rd place achievement in the 1998 tournament. In the 2014 tournament Croatia was qualified to round of last 16. Croatian team is looking paper strong with their playmaker Luka Modric alongside Mario Mandzukic, Ivan Rakitic and Ivan Perisic in the squad. But they are failing to perform well at the biggest stages. Coach, Zlatko Dalic's quick appontment favored the World Cup qualification for Croatia. He will be a strength in the side bench for the team.
The Nigerian team are hoping for a back to back group round qualification in World Cups. The three time African Cup of Champions looks like one more dark horses in the group despite their 51 number FIFA Ranking. Qualifying for the FIFA World Cup was a cake walk for the Nigerian team. They thrashed current African Champions Cameron and brawny Zambia and Algeria. Nigeria Assaulted Cameron for a 4-0 margin. They defeated their group mate Argentina last year in a friendly match. John Obi Mikel, the mid fielder will be the key player for the Nigerian team. Attacking side looks stronger with the presence of Alex Iwobi, Kelechi Iheanacho and Victor Moses. Gernor Rohr is the 8th coach the team after their 2014 appearance.
Group Favorites: Argentina is expected to pass the group stage as toppers. Predicting the remaining team will be a tough task. But considering current form Nigerian team will get the eligibility token for the round of 16.
