FIFA WORLD CUP 2018 GROUP ANALYSIS- GROUP F

Defending champions, Germany are placed in  a relatively fragile Group along with Mexico, South Korea and Sweden. Group stage is expected to be a cake walk for the German team as they won't expect nothing lesser than a Semi Final appearance. But a small failure may cause big trouble to the team  as they have to face Brazil in the round of 16, if finished second( Brazil is in a relatively weaker group). There will be some tough battle between Mexico and Sweden for the 2nd position.

GERMANY

GERMANY

Confederation Cup winning was a huge boost for the Germany team along with an unbeaten streak in the year 2017. They looks well built to defend the title. Joachim Low, the tactic magician can make wonders with star studded Germany team. Germany team looks better than the 2014 squad, although the team lacks Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Per Mertesacker. Toni Kroos will be the key player for the German side. The mid fielder makes great passes to the forwards joining with Ilkay Gundogan. Mullers experience in the tournament will give an additional comfort to the team. Werner can make quick finishes.

MEXICO

MEXICO

Juan Carlos Osorio's boys is expected to make the round of 16 as usual. But a decent competition from Sweden can ruin their odds. They are playing back to back six World Cups and were eliminated in the round of 16 in all these editions. Javier Hernandez will be the crucial player for the team. His presence in the attacking side along with Jesus Corona and Hirving Lozano can be deadly. Reaching the quarter finals will be their biggest achievement in the tournament as they have done this only twice in 1970 and 1986.

SWEDEN

SWEDEN

Sweden may be the dark horses in the group. Their qualifying journey was great with thrashing the 2006 Champions being the best. Zlatan Ibrahimovic's retirement hasn't effected teams performance yet. Sweden have been giving best performances recently. Coach Janne Andersson has found a perfect replacement for the veteran player in the form of Emil Forsberg. Their defense was crucial in getting the qualification token to Russia. Granqvist paired with Victor Lindelof can block any class attacks. But the team lacks a perfect defender in the left side and seems to be a noticeable weakness. But, if everything goes correct Sweeden can make a dream journey at Russia.

SOUTH KOREA

SOUTH KOREA

South Korea looks the weakest team in the Group. They were present in all World Cup editions after their 1986 tournament with best being an unanticipated semi final appearance in 2002. Son Heung-min will be the key player of the Korean side with having a record of top scorer in Premiere League from Asia. Shin Tae-yong was vital in qualifying Korea to the World Cup. But his inexperience may be a worry for the team. Qualification to the round of 16 will be a tough task for the team. A win in the group stage will be an achievement for the Korean side.

Group Prediction: Germany will be a sure shot for the round of 16. If nothing unexpected happened, Mexico will get yet another ticket for the next round. But Sweden have a decent line up this year. South Korea's journey is expected to end in the group stage.
